The Academy Award-winning picture based on a story by Isak Dinesen. During the late 19th century, a strict Protestant religious community in a Danish village takes in Babette, a French Catholic refugee from the Franco-Prussian War, as a servant to the pastor’s daughters. Some years after the pastor’s death, the sisters decide to hold a dinner to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth. Babette takes it upon herself to prepare the meal and produces a feast of a lifetime that transforms the community’s view of the outside world.
